I think CAPS is an amazing opportunity! It gives students a chance to delve into a field and find out what careers they are interested in and what jobs are not right for them. In addition, students gain insight into the workforce and are able to learn valuable skills involved in that process.
I do not have an internship set up yet. Working in some medical field that helps children is what I would like to do. I have been looking online at what departments there are. However, I have not reached out to anyone yet. I have a lot of hours during the day I can use to be at my internship. I am an organized person so I will be able to allocate time in the evening and during the day to get all parts done. My English class is A block so that gives me a lot of time during the day to work effectively on everything. I would like to keep Anatomy, which is B block but if that conflicted in some way I would be okay with dropping it. I am excited to get first hand experience and hopefully find a field of work I am passionate about. I look forward to hopefully finding an interest in the field of my internship and learning new things about myself through this largely independent experience. I have been working at a preschool with infants and toddlers for the past three years. Over the summer I work as a Counselor at my sleep away camp for nine weeks with kids from eight to fifteen years old. These jobs have given me exposure to working with children, professionalism, and leadership. This internship would ideally be a new way of using those skills in a medical environment. I enjoyed Anatomy and Biology so I would like to combine my interests. |
